Requirements

Education

  • A Medical Degree (MBBS) from a recognized and accredited institution is required.
  • Postgraduate training (e.g., MPH, MHA, MBA, Ph.D) is strongly preferred.
  • Unrestricted medical registration with BMDC required.

Experience

  • At least 15 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
    NGO, Hospital

Additional Requirements

  • Proven track record of managing quality improvement, clinical governance, or medical administration at a senior level.
  • Experience working with international NGOs, public health agencies, or government health systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with health information systems, electronic medical records, and data management platforms is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure, cross-cultural environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bangla.

Responsibilities & Context

Provide clinical and executive oversight for all medical services at the HOPE Hospital. The CMO will guide care delivery, quality assurance, utilization review, and clinical effectiveness initiatives. This role includes strategic leadership in recruiting qualified professional staff, introducing evidence-based medical innovations and improving healthcare outcomes The CMO will collaborate closely with HOPE Foundation management, hospital leadership, and partner organizations to implement care models that meet both local and international standards, as well as regulatory requirements set by the Ministry of Health (DGHS) and professional councils.

Job duties listed are the essential functions of this role:

  • Clinical Leadership & Medical Oversight: Provides strategic leadership and clinical expertise to ensure high-quality, efficient, and ethical patient care. Guides development of clinical protocols, disease management strategies, and rational utilization of diagnostics and treatment pathways, including surgical and maternal care services.
  • Quality Improvement & Safety: Leads hospital-wide efforts to enhance clinical quality, patient safety, and health outcomes. Develops systems to monitor and evaluate care delivery, including key performance indicators such as length of stay, infection rates, readmission, and resource utilization. Ensures compliance with national licensing requirements and international humanitarian health standards.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Establishes a hospital-wide performance and quality database with clinical benchmarks. Leads efforts in the collection and analysis of data to drive improvements in service delivery and patient satisfaction. Champions implementation of electronic health record systems to enable real-time clinical decision support.
  • Collaboration with Medical and Executive Teams: Works in close partnership with department heads, clinical coordinators, and hospital administrators to align medical strategy with hospital goals. Represents the medical staff in strategic discussions and contributes to hospital planning, policy formation, and emergency response readiness.
  • Medical Staff Affairs: Provides oversight to the credentialing and continuous medical education processes for all physicians and clinical staff. Supports recruitment, performance appraisal, and disciplinary action in accordance with hospital HR and ethical policies. Facilitates resolution of disputes or complaints involving physicians, patients, or other staff in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer and senior leadership.
  • Innovation & Capacity Building: Identifies opportunities to introduce new technologies and treatment approaches appropriate for low-resource and crisis-affected environments. Leads clinical capacity-building initiatives including training, mentorship, and continuing professional development programs for hospital and community health staff.Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation:Develops and enforces policies ensuring compliance with Bangladesh government health regulations, hospital bylaws, and guidelines from international donor and accreditation agencies. Plays a leading role in preparing the hospital for DGHS inspections and donor audits.
