Responsibilities & Context

We are a buying house established in 2001 and we work with buyers such as TU and Nutmeg. We are looking to expand and market our company to potential new buyers.
I am looking for a candidate with at least 3-5 years experience in garments and textile merchandising and marketing.
Candidate must have adequate experience in the field of merchandising and also sampling.
Candidate must be highly experienced in English as the job requires direct communication with potential foreign buyers.
We prefer a team player who is social, well spoken and can easily communicate with potential buyers.
Tasks includes calling potential buyers and also face to face meetings with potential buyers so we require a confident personality as well that can face rejection and is persistent to acquire potential business.
Candidate will have to tag with sampling team so candidate must understand how to execute a sample from looking at buyer’s tech pack and comments.
Candidate must have vast knowledge about different kinds of woven and knit fabrics (composition and construction). It is crucial to understand which fabrics are in trend for certain style of garments as well as which season. If you do not have knowledge about strike off, handloom or yarn count for example you will not be considered for the job. Candidate must also understand wash techniques and will certainly be quizzed on this during interview.
Candidate has to tag along with merchandising team as well to better understand potential buyers. For example, if buyer requires recycled polyester for fabric (what documents are required), fabric specification sheet , oeko-tex certificate etc. Candidate must also have knowledge about factory audit certificates. If the buyer requires third party inspection or what kind of testing they require for fabric and accessories etc all to help acquire and understand potential buyers better.
Must also tag along with commercial team to understand documents needed to execute an order and ship out to buyer. L/C requirements, shipping documents , delivery methods and so on.
