Responsibilities & Context
- To provide essential eye care services including vision screening, refraction, and prescription of corrective lenses at the primary healthcare level, while supporting community-based eye health interventions in the Rohingya refugee camps and host communities.
- Conduct vision screening and refraction tests for patients.
- Diagnose common vision problems and prescribe corrective lenses.
- Assist in dispensing and fitting eyeglasses under the supervision of doctors.
- Identify and refer cases of suspected cataract, glaucoma, or other ocular diseases to higher-level facilities.
- Maintain proper documentation of patient consultations and prescriptions.
- Educate patients on eye health, hygiene, and care of spectacles.
- Support community-based eye care awareness sessions and outreach camps.
- Ensure cleaning, calibration, and maintenance of optometric tools and equipment.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols at all times.
- Promote safeguarding practices and report any concerns or incidents as per BRAC policy.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the PHC Manager or health coordinator.
- Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
