Responsibilities & Context
- Lead the design of electrical systems for real estate projects including: Internal and external power distribution, Emergency power systems (generators, IPS/UPS), Lighting (General, Landscape, Façade), Fire alarm and detection systems, Lift, HVAC, and BMS power requirements
- Ensure all designs conform to BNBC, BSTI, and Electricity Act of Bangladesh.
- Ensure all designs conform to international standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE) as applicable
- Coordinate with local authorities (RAJUK, PWD, DESCO, DPDC, REB) for approvals and clearances.
- Review and approve electrical drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Conduct design audits, load flow and short circuit analysis (using software like ETAАР, DIALux, AutoCAD Electrical).
- Implement quality checks and ensure consistency across all design deliverables.
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and instrumentation teams for integrated system design.
- Recommend modern design practices such as smart systems, energy-efficient technologies.
- Work with Project In charge, architects, and other engineering disciplines to ensure timely delivery of design packages.
- Coordinate the procurement of materials, equipment, and resources needed for project execution.
- Support value engineering and design optimization initiatives.
- Attend progress meetings with Management Team, clients and government agencies.
- Supervise electrical design engineers and CAD draftsman.
- Train junior staff on BNBC compliance, electrical safety, and design best practices.
- Allocate design tasks and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Prepare and review technical reports, load calculations, and design justifications.
- Maintain document control for drawings, revision history, and design change approvals.
- Oversee preparation of design reports, specifications, datasheets, and manuals.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports to the management team.
- Attend coordination and stakeholder meetings on behalf of the engineering department.
- Introduce energy-efficient design solutions (e.g., solar integration, smart grid compatibility).
- Stay updated with government energy policies (e.g., Renewable Energy Policy of Bangladesh).
