Additional Requirements

  • Age at least 30 years
  • In-depth knowledge of spinning machinery components and their spare parts (e.g., blow room, carding, drawing, spinning, and winding machines)
  • Strong understanding of inventory control systems and techniques, including stock level optimization, reorder points, and handling of high-value/critical spare parts.
  • Proven ability to source and negotiate with suppliers and vendors, ensuring the timely delivery of quality spare parts at competitive prices.
  • Experience in budgeting for spare parts procurement and managing costs without compromising quality or machine uptime.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to address equipment downtime or parts quality issues swiftly.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to liaise effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in guiding a team, with the ability to mentor and oversee junior staff involved in parts inventory management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to track spare parts inventory, procurement, and procurement processes.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

The Purchase Manager (Local & Imported) – Mechanical Spares ensures uninterrupted production in the Spinning Division by efficiently sourcing and managing local and international mechanical components, requiring expertise in spinning machinery and procurement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Source, negotiate, and procure mechanical spares for spinning machines from domestic and international vendors.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure delivery schedules are met in line with production requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers for mechanical spares.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure high-quality service and timely supply.
  • Conduct regular vendor performance evaluations and audits.
  • Ensure cost-effective procurement through strategic negotiation and supplier development.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimum stock without overstocking.
  • Coordinate with the stores and maintenance team for regular consumption and requirement updates.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all imports (LC, bill of lading, customs clearance, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant import/export regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinate with customs agents and freight forwarders to streamline the import process.
