Requirements
Education
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with a Valid and updated BMDC registration Certificate.
Additional Requirements
Essential 2-year experience in Mental Health clinical work in an INGO/NGO/Hospital/Clinic.
- Essential MH-GAP training
- Desirable: Having postgraduate training in Psychiatry.
- Essential English Language and Bangla.
- Desirable: Chittagonian Dialect
- Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel)
Responsibilities & Context
Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.
- Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood
- Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits , consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
- Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
- Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patient’s illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
- Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
- Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
- Consulting Mental Health patients (Acute/Chronic presentation), for Assessment and Management planning through a patient centered approach:
- Treatment plans for each patient should be elaborated through this collaborative approach, always involving patients in decisions about their care.
- Patients are co-managed with psychologists / counselors (no stand-alone pharmacological intervention). And where indicated prescribing psychotropic medications as per mhGAP and MSF protocols.
- Developing a scheduled Follow Up plan.
- Provide liaison consultation to the IPD/ER patients as per request.
- Participate in regular supervision meetings (on site or remotely) with MSF psychiatrist.
- Ensuring patients physical well-being through basic screening test and other possible test to exclude any chronic disease (DM/HTN/THYROID) as indicated.
- Collaborate with and support other departments, pharmacy and laboratory as needed. Supporting with the stocks analysis and the provisions needed per department.
- Maintaining patient’s files and confidentiality.
- Joining training provided by MSF for personal /clinical development.
- Supporting with training to other mental health staff, HP team and other national staff to improve awareness about mental health and to identify the patients in need of mental health intervention.
- Routine case presentation in departmental meeting and peer (inter OC) meeting for better management of those patients with complicated mental health presentation and for continued professional development.
- Using telemedicine platform for MH case discussion with the support from Mental Health activity manager and Medical activity manager.
- Participate in Medical Incident Reporting and Prescription Audit to ensure standards of quality of care.
Compensation & Other Benefits
Permanent Contract. Salary according to level Nine (09) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 119500). Salary is not negotiable. Income tax deduction from salary based on current income tax rule. 2 annual leave days per month worked. Medical insurance for employee and direct dependents based on Health Care Policy- Locally Recruited Staff.
There is no provisions for relocation. 2 Festival Bonuses after completion of one year of uninterrupted continuous service.
