Responsibilities & Context

  • The purpose of the position is to implement project and programs effectively and efficiently at the community-level to achieve child well-being. The Project Officer is also responsible for mobilizing communities and key local partners around child well-being to ensure each target community has a unique development plan. Each Project Officer is responsible for World Vision’s activities in a defined Areas with identified target communities in the Camps and Host. This position serves as the primary link between World Vision (including Project Manager and Community Facilitators) and communities and local partners like mosque, Madrasa, Temple, Pegoda, Churches, Schools and various I/NGOs. The Project Officer will mobilize community engagement, identify local partners, assess and build their capacity, and empower them to work together to plan and implement project activities to improve the well-being of children, especially the most vulnerable. This position is responsible for local level advocacy through coordination with key stakeholders.
  • 1. Mobilize community engaging in the development processes : Facilitate and strengthen the faith leaders’ group, parent group, and children’s group to ensure functionality with their plan and relevant documents.  Connect and facilitate faith leaders and FBOs to work collaboratively with local government bodies.  Apply appropriate tools and techniques for community mobilization, engagement and reflection / learning.  Learn and apply learning about the local context, particularly within assigned locations. Represent WV with integrity and accountability. Promote understanding of World Vision mission and values. Use culturally sensitive communication.
  • 2. Implement Project plan in collaboration with partners, community and staff : Form parent’s/ caregiver groups. Conduct workshop on Celebrating families with parents/couple/mothers to nurture loving and safe environments in the family/camp community. Conduct sessions on Celebrating families with parents/couple/mothers to nurture loving and safe environments in the family/camp community. Form Adolescents Groups (age 12-18 years). Organize follow-up meetings with adolescent groups quarterly. Provide support to the children/adolescent group to implement community led awareness campaigns and peace building dialogue to prevent child trafficking, child marriage, and child labour). Celebrate various national and international day/rally etc. with children, adolescents, parents, caregivers and community stakeholders. Organize EWV training sessions for community agents representing three groups: Faith leaders, women, and adolescent children at each camp. Assist community agents in forming three distinct community action groups: Faith leaders, women, and adolescent children. Support community agents and groups in crafting action plans targeting root causes, addressing issues such as malnutrition, health, food scarcity, deforestation, and income shortages, including any community-led initiatives. Establish and support EWV action groups—Faith leaders, women, and adolescent children—in executing community plans, including activities like Moringa plantations, leaf and product sales, and income generation. Facilitate group reflections on monitoring data to support action groups.
  • 3. Reflection & learning : Continue reflective practice and promote its use in self and with others Facilitate ‘Annual Community Review and Planning’ event in the community and gathering learning from program implementation Optimize learning through experience and use critical thinking and analysis effectively. Contribute to develop a positive team environment.  Assist Project Manager to write evidence-based reporting on the need alongside regular reporting. Support individual, team spiritual growth and organizational learning Provide relevant information reflection outcomes to contribute to evidence building and organizational learning.
  • 4. Facilitate Monitoring and Evaluation processes at community level : Ensure that monitoring and evaluation processes are effectively done at the community level.  Ensure quality of primary data collection processes. Ensure community/community hope action team of faith leaders, empowered world view groups, children’s groups, parents support groups are undertaking community-led planning, monitoring and using information to track progress of community led annual plans.
  • 5. Program and Financial Management: Ensure activities follow DIP and budget and financial guidelines to achieve satisfactory spending (99%).  Develop work tasks as per Detail Implementation Plan (DIP) and project implementation guidelines. Ensure that all transactions comply with field financial standards.
  • 6. Inculcate organizational culture adhering to organizational core values: Contribute to organizational culture that celebrates different expressions of Christian and other faiths to enable staff to adopt an inclusive and respectful approach to diversity.  Help Project Manager organize weekly chapel service, devotion, day of prayer, staff retreat and other celebrations among staff and leaders.
  • 7. Professional & Personal Development : Plan personal learning and development Ensure work and Life balance. Performance review completed and development goals achieved.  Current career plan that is consistent with World Vision’s strategic goal.
